cabEstate Cabernet Sauvignon

Sherwin Family Vineyards has been handcrafting highly rated Estate Cabernet Sauvignon since 1996.

We are pleased to announce the release of our 2008 Sherwin Family Vineyards Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, our 13th vintage of Estate Cabernet. As always, the 2008 vintage is made entirely from fruit from our 16-acre vineyard at the top of Spring Mountain. Comprised of 90 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 8 percent Merlot, and 2 percent Cabernet Franc, the wine was aged for 22 months in new French oak and then aged another 12 months in bottle prior to release. This wine shows the lush fruit and intensity of our mountaintop growing conditions, with hints of mocha and well-integrated tannins. 681 cases were produced.

With lush fruit notes and intensity thanks to its mountaintop growing conditions, the wine boasts hints of mocha, creamy oak, cassis, ripe currant, black cherry, and wild berry fruit. Aromas of blackberry compote, dark chocolate, cumin, rosemary, white pepper, and flowers are echoed on the palate in waves of rich, powerful fruit. ChardonnayChardonnay

2010 Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast

The 2010 Chardonnay was sourced from a gravelly, alluvial vineyard in Sonoma Coast that was planted in 1965 to the Old Wente clone of Chardonnay. The wine was barrel fermented and aged in 50% new French Oak barrels for 11 months. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered. The nose is a beautiful mélange of lemon zest, tropical fruit, truffle, flint, and clove. On the palate, the balance is immediately evident, with a juicy, Burgundian sense of minerality and lush fruit. There is lively acidity, but the wine is also rich – a vestige of its sunny origins in California.
